Young People

Over the last few years we have had a growing Young People’s Ministry. This has included working with other churches across Welwyn Garden City as well as the YMCA. Until recently we employed a full-time youth worker, Sara, shared with the Free Church in Welwyn Garden. She recently left and we are looking for a replacement, but the youth work continues with many volunteers in the church and partnerships across the town. Activities take place throughout the week combining social events and discipleship. Many of our young people have been involved in Mission Trips to Costa Rica over the last couple of years.
Below are short profiles of some of our Youth Ministry Team.

I grew up within the traditions of the Methodist church and in my teenage years was fortunate to be at a church in Sheffield with wide-ranging and lively activities. Now some 20+ years later I find myself helping to co-ordinate activities for teenagers at Panshanger Church. The young people are amazing and I love spending time with them on a whole range of activities from Bible study, movie nights, sleep-overs, prayer evenings, and lots of laughter too. It’s so wonderful to see so many children and teenagers at Panshanger Church, and I thank God for each and every one of them.

Malte Wellhoener

malte-sm2 Hi, my name is Malte and I´m the new Placement Youth Worker for Panshanger. I was born in Germany in a small town called Werther (where the famous „Werther´s Original“-Candies come from!) and my spiritual roots are in the Lutheran Church and in the YMCA. I went to Kids and Youth Groups and later started working in Kids- and Youth Services. I was as a Participant and Co-Worker at about eleven Summer Camps and led the local Parish Youth Group for two years.

At the moment I’m studying Youthwork at the „CVJM-Kolleg“ in Kassel. I´m here in England to finish my education, get more working and Faith experience, learn more about a different culture and for sure to meet new people.

I feel that this is the place God has chosen for me this year and I hope to get the chance to use my gifts and skills in a positive way for God and Everyone here in Panshanger.

In my freetime I love to do Sports (Football, Table-Tennis, Volleyball), meeting friends, watching good movies (sorry, films ;), listening to music and reading interesting books.

I look forward to meeting YOU!
