Welcome to Panshanger Church
Greetings my friends. Many years ago I led a daytime homegroup. One of my ladies was celebrating her 80th birthday and we were preparing to have lunch together at another home group member’s house. I was helping to prepare lunch. Then June who was hosting asked me if I would go into her loft and get some chairs down. Up in the loft I went and I walked across the floor to pick up the chairs and I went straight through the ceiling. As I fell I sent up the quickest prayer ever. I grabbed the sides of the loft as I fell, and there I was gently swinging back and forth. I then managed to pull myself up and sat with my legs through the hatch. Well, I have never seen such a big hole before, with bits of ceiling all over the bed underneath me. June then tried to claim on her insurance, but she did not have accidental damage, so I had to claim on my insurance for being a public liability. So beware never ask me to go into your loft!
It may seem that I have made light of what happened to me. I came out of very nearly having a very nasty accident. I came out of it unscathed. But as I thought of what could have happened to me I could not but think of how many other occasions things nearly happened. But on each occasion God has stepped in and saved me. But it is so easy to forget all of the things that our Lord has done for you and me over the years. It is so easy to keep asking things of God. But I for one do not spend enough time talking and listening to him. Our Lord loves to spend time with us. He wants to be intimate with us. He Wants to be the best friend that we can ever have.
In Psalm 96. We read:
Sing a new song to the Lord.
Sing to the Lord, all the World.
Sing to the Lord, and praise him!
Proclaim every day the good news
That he has saved us.
Proclaim his glory to the nations,
His mighty acts to all people.
If we do not have that special relationship with him, how will he know what our needs are? How will he know how much we love him if we do not tell him? May the Lord richly bless each one of us as we seek him day by day.
