Welcome to the website of Panshanger Church, a church in the community, for the community of Panshanger in Welwyn Garden City.

Although we don’t take ourselves too seriously, we’re passionate and serious about discovering and deepening our relationship with God. Our church family is  made up of 140 adult members and 60 children and teenagers, we range in age from 0-96.

We have a full range of groups and events for children and young people from 0-18 years of age. Homegroups that meet weekly for adults and social groups for men and women that regularly get together. Courses and events are always happening come and find out more. Our staff include Audrey our assistant minister , Sara our youth worker and Christine our youth intern. The vast majority of the church programme is run by its church members who volunteer their time and talents for the wide array of activities that take place.

In May 2009 we ran a short sermon series based on our mission statement - Knowing God’s Love. Growing in the Holy Spirit. Going in Christ’s Name. You can listen to these talks and some of the responses to them by clicking here or looking under the ‘Resources’ pull down menu.

The church has been here since Panshanger was built and we celebrate 37 years as a worshipping part of the community.  We are a local ecumenical partnership (LEP) meaning that we have members from Anglican, Baptist, Methodist and United Reformed Church backgrounds as well as other denominations and wonderfully people who have become Christians through contact with the church and it’s activities.

The Church has sought to recognise and tap into the strengths of each of the parent denominations and endeavoured to combine the best of the different traditions as it seeks to be Christ’s Church in this area.

Welwyn Garden City has grown over the years and several new areas have been built and developed. Panshanger is one of the newer estates in Welwyn Garden City, the second New Town built by Ebenezer Howard after the First World War. The estate has a broad range of housing from one-bed flats to five bedroom, detached houses.

There are three primary schools and one secondary school, local shops, a doctors’ surgery, public house, golf course and recreational areas. There are also sports centres, a ski slope, sailing club and swimming pool nearby.

The Church and Community Hall buildings, which together form the area for Sunday worship, are located strategically next to the shops in the centre of Panshanger.

Nowadays, Welwyn Garden City and the surrounding area has strong local businesses and provides a home for many people working in London.

Do get in touch with me if you need any more details.
